No One Else Lyric & Fact About This Song

    Lyric

No One Else

My girl's got a big mouth
With which she blabbers a lot
She laughs at most everything
Whether it's funny or not
And if you see her
Tell her it's over now

I want a girl who will laugh for no one else
When I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf
When I'm away she never leaves the house
I want a girl who laughs for no one else

My girl's got eyeballs
In the back of her head
She looks around and around
You know it makes me sad to see her like that
Please don't believe her
She says that for anyone
And if you see her tell her it's a hey, hey hey hey!

I want a girl who will laugh for no one else
When I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf
When I'm away she never leaves the house
I want a girl who laughs for no one else

And if you see her tell her tell her it's over now

And if you see her tell her it's over now
And if you watch her go... and if you watch her go...
Watch her, watch her, watch her, watch her!

I want a girl who will laugh for no one else
When I'm away she puts her makeup on the shelf
When I'm away she never leaves the house
I want a girl who laughs for no one else, no one else
Yeah!

Fact About This Song
  •  This song Written by Rivers Cuomo.
  • Length of a song is 3:04 Minutes.
  • This song was first recorded in the Summer (August) of 1992. In the Recording History, it is listed as a song in the same batch as The Purification of Water. It's first documented attempt by the band was during the The Kitchen Tape sessions.
  • The song was first played live on September 15, 1992 at the Coconut Teaser. Karl Koch described the event best when he said, "No One Else' was a song that started to steer the band in a previously invisible direction." Rather than sticking with a heavy Pixies-influenced sound, "No One Else" was one of the first songs to have the band wondering whether they were going in a "‘pop’, [or] too ‘commericial’ sounding" direction.
  • No One Else is often considered a fan favorite and is frequently played at live performances. Todd Sullivan listed it as one of the songs that caused him to take notice of Weezer. He referred to it as guys singing about "breaking up with a blabber mouth.".
  • During a number of live shows in the summer of 2000, Weezer modified No One Else and Buddy Holly by adding an extended instrumental introduction. The band kept the introduction for Buddy Holly as a part of the performance until 2005, but dropped the introduction to No One Else after only a few shows.
  • Cuomo explained that "'No One Else' is the jealous-obsessive asshole in me freaking out on my girlfriend.".
  • The song is also notable for being the only track on The Blue Album played in standard tuning - all other tracks were recorded a half step down, which Weezer usually uses.

My Name Is Jonas Lyric & Fact About This Song

Lyric

            My Name Is Jonas

My name is Jonas.
I'm carrying the wheel.
Thanks for all you've shown us.
This is how we feel.
Come sit next to me.
Pour yourself some tea.
Just like Grandma made
When we couldn't find sleep.
Things were better then.
Once but never again.
We've all left the den.
Let me tell you 'bout it.

The choo-choo train left right on time.
A ticket costs only your mind.
The driver said, "Hey, man, we go all the way."
Of course we were willing to pay.

My name is Wepeel.
Gotta box full of your toys.
They're fresh out of batteries.
But they're still makin' noise, makin' noise.
Tell me what to do.
Now the tank is dry.
Now this wheel is flat.
And you know what else?
Guess what I received,
In the mail today.
Words of deep concern
From my little brother.

The building's not goin' as he planned.
The foreman has injured his hand.
The dozer will not clear a path.
The driver swears he learned his math.

The workers are goin' home. (x4)
Yeah!

The workers are goin' home. (x3)
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Fact About This Song
  • This song Written by Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson and Jason Cropper.
  • Length of a song is 3:24 Minutes.
  • It is one of the few Weezer songs with any co-writing credits and the only writing credit Cropper ever received in the band, as he came up with the acoustic intro to the song. and is one of the earliest collaborations between Cuomo and Wilson. Wilson came up with the instrumentation parts and let Cuomo write the lyrics, melodies and solo.
  • “My Name is Jonas" was inspired by Cuomo's brother, Leaves Cuomo. Says Rivers, "'Jonas' explains how The Plan is reaming us all, especially my brother."The song is also said to have been, at least partially, inspired by the novel The Giver by Lois Lowry. The protagonist's name is Jonas, and at one point, actually says, "My name is Jonas." In the book's plot, Jonas uses a sled,  and Wepeel is the name of a childhood sled of Cuomo's.
  • At one point, the song was erroneously named by Geffen Records as the Blue Album's third single. Before "Say It Ain't So" was officially chosen as a single by consensus among the band, Todd Sullivan, and the label, Geffen had printed up limited runs of a "My Name is Jonas" one-track promo CD, and distributed them, primarily in Canada. These CDs are among some of the rarer Weezer collectibles.
  • Several stations in the US and Canada played "My Name Is Jonas" as a single in spring 1995. This actually got to the stage in Canada where radio stations were serviced with a promo single.
  • This song has remained a very popular song for the band and is a concert staple. When the song is played live, Brian Bell plays the harmonica solo. It is entirely in 6/8 time.
  • This song is featured in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock as a playable track, and was released as a downloadable song for Rock Band.
  • On the album Rock Music: A Tribute to Weezer,  Affinity was covered this song.

Weezer Blue Album

Weezer signed with Geffen Records on June 25, 1993 and recorded their debut album with producer Ric Ocasek at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The album was produced by former Cars frontman Ric Ocasek and recorded in Electric Lady Studios in New York City. During the recording, guitarist Jason Cropper left the band and was replaced by Brian Bell.
Weezer's self-titled debut album (which would later be dubbed The Blue Album, due to the blue background of the cover art, and commonly abbreviated as TBA), was released on May 10, 1994. The record label originally did not wish to release a single, to see what sales could be generated by word-of-mouth alone.
At the time of its release, the group's influences were discussed endlessly, the dynamics of the Pixies, the polished production reminiscent of Nevermind, the willful outsider vibe borrowed from indie rock, but few noted how the group, under the direction of singer/songwriter Rivers Cuomo, synthesized alt-rock with a strong '70s trash-rock predilection and an unwitting gift for power pop, resulting in something quite distinctive and this Album was a hit from the start.
As a result, their music was infused with a quirky sense of humor and an endearing awkwardness that made songs from their debut Weezer (aka the blue album) like "Undone (The Sweater Song)," "Buddy Holly," and "Say It Ain't So" into big modern rock hits during the mid-'90s. All the singles were helped immeasurably by clever videos, which may have made the songs into hits, but they also made many critics believe that the band was a one-hit wonder. On the top of that, "buddy holly" won several mtv awards that year, and weezer eventually went double-platinum.
The album's debut single, "Undone - The Sweater Song" received regular rotation on college radio. It was not until a video, directed by Spike Jonze propelled the song into MTV rotation that everyone began to talk about Weezer. Unintentionally, and perhaps unforeseeable, a debut single about a sweater prompted many to write the band off as a gimmick. Others penned the band (and perhaps rightfully so) as nerds. Some felt that singing about a sweater was an attempt to be ironic, others thought it was hilarious.
With Undone still receiving frequent radio play, the band decided it was time to release a new single. "Buddy Holly" was chosen as the next single and Spike Jones was asked to direct another video for the band. The Buddy Holly music video featured the band dressed up in '50s attire playing at a recreation of
Arnold's Drive In from the 1970s sitcom, Happy Days. The song's hooks, brilliant chorus, and pop culture references were heavily emphasized by the nostalgic value the video retained. Buddy Holly took off and so did Weezer. The Buddy Holly video went on to win an MTV Video Music award, a ceremony for which Rivers was not present. At a time when the band was blowing up, Rivers was drawing in. Devastated by the success of the Buddy Holly video, Rivers grew uncertain as to whether it was his songwriting that made the band famous or if it was Spike Jonze's video. Rivers quickly began to shun anything that could
be perceived, as a gimmick or as ironic. He removed his glasses, declined an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine and cut his hair. The band took notice of Rivers reclusive persona and began to slowly exhibit distaste for him both in private and in public interviews.
In 1995, Weezer released their third single, Say It Ain't So. The band performed at the site of their old garage at the Amherst House. The single enjoyed success and is considered by many Weezer fans to be an all-time favorite.
After several tours around the u.s. and the world, the band settled back in rivers went to school at harvard, matt and pat worked on a new band named The Rentals, and brian resumed work with a former band of his, The Space Twins.
Rivers Cuomo writer incredibly charming songs. The Blue Album is one of the most deceptively simple albums ever recorded. this is one of the most important debut albums of the last ten years. It ushered in an entire sub-genre of music, this is a record that will feel very familiar to dedicated fans and newcomers alike.
Weezer is one of those rare bands, the simple brilliance of the original Weezer album, The thing that makes Weezer great is their honesty, and they is a band built around the fact that they're not what you see everyday on MTV.
They sing about love-falling in and out of it, obsessing about it, reveling in it, is a simple, honest one, Practically. Alluring fusion of pop simplicity and riff-heavy rock. their distinctively chunky power-chords, geeky introverted lyrics and Beach Boys harmonies in 2005. Weezer sounds as stunning as ever.
Despite the obvious influences, however, they end up with a collection of songs that sound quite distinct. while the music might sound a bit familiar upon first listen, after a few times through, it becomes clear that Weezer is onto something brilliant,
Weezer became a huge success, and for good reason and paved the way for Weezer's long career.

Weezer History

When looking back at the nineties, the period of a million alt rock bands, only a few records really made a cultural impact. Green Day's with Dookie, The Offspring's with Smash, Nirvana's with Nevermind, and Weezer's self-titled debut of course.

The best part of loving a band for a long long time is being able to see all the band's done to progress and become the band they are today. And one of the best offenders of this opinion is Weezer.

Weezer, the best band ever, was formed February 14, 1992 at 1711 Stoner Avenue in Los Angeles, California. Although unnamed, Weezer were actually unofficially formed far earlier.

On February 14, Valentine Day, Weezer held their first rehearsal at a local studio. At the time, the band's lineup was:
Rivers Cuomo - Lead vocals, Electric Guitar
Patrick Wilson - Drums
Jason Cropper - Acoustic Guitar
Matt Sharp - Bass

Cuomo said, "When we first started practicing, I mean from our very first rehearsal, I thought to myself, 'We're amazing. This is incredible! Everybody's going to love us!" Matt felt differently. "We were doing this just because we liked the music. Not because we were all great at what we did. It was like, 'Wow, we suck. We don't know how to play well and we're not together.' But it was probably the most pure experience I'd been through as far as dealing with people. It was great."

Weezer continued to play clubs around Los Angeles throughout the remainder of 1992. On August 1, 1992 Weezer recorded The Kitchen Tape, It featured their five most professional songs, in November, Weezer recorded their third demo album. Fans refer to this album as The Real Demo. The next month on December 11, Weezer played a show with Carnival Art and met Brian Bell. Although at the time it seemed rather insignificant, Brian's skills would stick in the minds of the band and he would eventually be asked to join.

After recording The Kitchen Tape in hopes of creating interest in L.A., Weezer eventually attracted attention from major-label A&R reps looking for alternative rock bands while performing on the same bill as the band that dog.

On August 11, the band flew to New York City at the request of Ric and recorded a practice demo with Ric Ocasek. While prepping for the studio sessions, the band focused on their vocal interplay by practicing barbershop quartet-styled songs, which helped both lead singer Rivers Cuomo and bassist Matt Sharp achieve a newfound collaborative comfort during rehearsals. Sharp, who never sang before joining Weezer, gained his falsetto background vocal abilities. "I had to sing an octave higher than Rivers. After a lot of practice, I started to get it down." Fifteen songs were rehearsed for the album during early practice sessions in New York in preparation for the Electric Lady Studios album recording. Ten of the songs appear on the album, but four of the songs were cut: "Lullaby for Wayne", "I Swear It's True", "Getting Up and Leaving", and a reprise version of "In The Garage." The other song, "Mykel and Carli", was attempted during the Electric Lady sessions, but was also abandoned. It would be recorded a year later and became a popular B-side, and eventually get a proper release on the "Undone - The Sweater Song" single.
